Along with the next iPhone, iOS 6 is going to be a major update for Apple users. With the dumping of Google for its Maps app, Apple’s poised to shed another of its rival’s biggest services: YouTube.

According to an official statement given to The Verge “Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.”

Engadget also received word that while iOS 6 will not include the app by default, iOS 5 and devices running a lower firmware will continue to have it standard.
